1. Our Commitment
International Energy Club is committed to ensuring that internationalenergyclub.org is accessible to the widest possible audience, including users with disabilities. We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at the AA level, as referenced by the EU Web Accessibility Directive (Directive 2016/2102/EU) and as applicable under our obligations towards users in jurisdictions with equivalent requirements. This commitment extends to all public-facing pages and to the authenticated member platform.
2. Conformance Status
IEC is currently partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 AA. Partial conformance means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard. We have completed a self-assessment and third-party automated audit (using Axe and WAVE tools) as of the date of this statement. A manual audit by a certified accessibility specialist (CPACC or equivalent) is scheduled for Q1 2026.
3. Known Issues
The following non-conformances are known and are being addressed in our Q1 2026 accessibility sprint:
- (a) Some interactive data visualisations (marketplace charts, deal pipeline graphs) are not fully keyboard-navigable and lack ARIA descriptions — we are adding keyboard controls and aria-label attributes
(b) PDF documents attached to deal room uploads may not be tagged for screen reader access — we are adding a tagged-PDF generation option
(c) Some older event recap videos do not have captions — all new video content has captions; we are retroactively captioning the archive
(d) The colour contrast ratio on certain secondary text elements in dark mode does not consistently meet the 4.5:1 ratio — we are auditing and updating our colour palette.
4. Technical Specification
internationalenergyclub.org is built with Next.js 15 (React 19) using semantic HTML5, ARIA attributes, and Tailwind CSS. The platform is designed to work with: modern browsers (Chrome 120+, Firefox 121+, Safari 17+, Edge 120+); screen readers (NVDA on Windows, VoiceOver on macOS/iOS, TalkBack on Android); keyboard-only navigation; and high-contrast mode on Windows. We use system font stacks and allow users to override font size in their browser settings without loss of functionality.

This document was last updated on Nov 1, 2025. IEC maintains a versioned archive of all prior versions. Where a material change affects the rights or obligations of existing members, affected members are notified by email at least 14 days before the change takes effect.
