1. API Access
The IEC Data API is available to Executive-tier and Institutional-tier members, and to approved third-party developers who have executed a separate API Partner Agreement. API keys are personal and must not be shared. Each API key is associated with a named account and a permissions scope. Access is subject to the rate limits specified in your membership plan or API Partner Agreement. Excessive use that degrades platform performance for other users may result in temporary throttling or suspension without notice.
2. Permitted Use
API access is granted solely for: internal business intelligence and analytics; integration with your organisation's internal systems; building applications that are disclosed to and approved by IEC; and academic research conducted under a signed Data Use Agreement. You may not: resell, redistribute or sublicense API data; use API data to train machine learning models without a signed ML Data Licence; cache API data for longer than 24 hours except where the data is explicitly flagged as cacheable; or use the API to replicate or compete with IEC's core platform functionality.
3. Rate Limits and SLA
Executive-tier API access is limited to 1,000 requests per hour and 10,000 per day. Institutional-tier and API Partner access limits are specified in the applicable agreement. Requests exceeding rate limits will receive HTTP 429 responses. IEC targets 99.9% API uptime for Institutional members during business hours (09:00–21:00 MSK). Planned maintenance windows will be communicated at least 48 hours in advance via the developer portal and status page.
4. Data Licence
Data returned by the API is licensed to you on a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable basis for the purposes described in Clause 2. All data is proprietary to IEC or licensed from third parties. Attribution requirements apply where data is published in reports or research: cite 'International Energy Club Data API' with the access date. No ownership rights in the underlying data are transferred by API access.
5. Security
You are responsible for storing API keys securely. Keys must not be included in client-side code, public repositories, or shared via email. If you suspect a key has been compromised, revoke it immediately via the developer portal and notify security@internationalenergyclub.org. IEC monitors API access patterns for anomalies and may revoke keys that show signs of abuse or unauthorised access.
Document versioning and re-acceptance
This document was last updated on Nov 1, 2025. IEC maintains a versioned archive of all prior versions. Where a material change affects the rights or obligations of existing members, affected members are notified by email at least 14 days before the change takes effect. Continued use of the platform after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. To request a prior version, contact legal@internationalenergyclub.org.
